The Carvel Ukrainian Heritage Society will be hosting a fund-raising evening in partnership with the Greater Parkland Regional Chamber of Commerce, Spruce Grove Rotary, and Stony Plain Rotary. Frank Florkewich and Rod Shaigec are leading the way with this fund-raising event and Frank has said "it is horrific to see the plight of families and communities being ripped apart in the Ukraine. We want to lead the way locally to to give residents and businesses a way of making a difference and supporting the aid efforts during this dreadful crisis". "I hope that as a giving, compassionate and supportive community we will do our absolute best to help. One hundred per cent of the money raised will stay within the Province to bring relief to several organizations that directly benefit the many families and individuals that find themselves displaced." According to the statistics, at least three million people have fled their homes to escape the war in Ukraine and more than 18 million people are expected to be displaced as fighting continues.
