Why does asphalt texture appear different on different surfaces?
Asphalt pavement consists of varied granular material and asphalt cement. These mixes and the installation method will affect how the finished surface appears.
How long should I wait before using my new asphalt surface?
Generally, it takes at least 24 to 48 hours for the pavement to cool. However, it may take a minimum of 3 days for the surface to cool down when the weather is warm. Cedar Hill Paving Ltd. recommends giving 5 to 7 days of curing before driving or parking on your new asphalt surface to avoid warping, rutting, or displacement.
When is a pavement replacement needed?
If cracks are present and run parallel to the pavement's centre line, they can be filled. However, if the pavement is rutted, broken, and/or has large areas where water is ponding, this can indicate severe foundation damage. In such a case, a pavement replacement is needed.
What are the main contributors to pavement deterioration?
The primary cause of failure is the infiltration of water into the asphalt base. Your pavement may start deteriorating with the oxidation of the surface, causing the asphalt to become dry and brittle.
