This is avoidable. The first thing is to make sure there is a contract signed by both parties. The second is to negotiate a payment schedule. The process with Healthy Homes RCD is that we first go over a budget with you, including what your ideas are and the options available to you according to your price point. We will then come to an agreement with you about the specific work that is needed to proceed. A payment schedule will pre-arranged and there will be a down payment required for materials. Once the work is completed to a predetermined point a predetermined payment will then be made. The final payment is due upon completion of the contract. These two steps protect everybody involved.

A change order is a written contract that the client signs to authorize the contractor to complete additional work not included in the original contract. A change order may also be written when a contractor comes across any unforeseen circumstances. A change order is signed by both parties and payment is made upon completion of the change order contract.
