Heat Pumps can be a great source of comfort for a home in both summer for cooling and winter for heating. However in many cases when the temperatures drop and it becomes very cold, it may be necessary to have a supplemental heat source to act as a buffer when the heat pump can't keep up. In most cases this would be electric baseboards that are set to come on at a lower temperature than the pump is set to. Even when the supplemental heat is needed, these systems can still be a very cost effective way to control the comfort level in your home. Make sure you hire a certified HVAC installer with good knowledge of these systems and what size requirements will be needed with your particular home to produce the best results.
