CANADIAN BUSINESSES THAT USE VOIP BASED PHONE NUMBERS:nI would like to provide an update on a previous post. For any businesses that use VOIP based phone numbers we recently discovered that in some cases up to 90% of incoming calls from customers were never connecting. Outbound calls are working fine which made it harder for us to realize what was going on. We can confirm that this has been an issue since the start of the week. nnSeveral businesses could be attributing the lack of incoming calls to the Coronavirus outbreak when it could very well be that no phone calls were getting through. Test calling your VOIP numbers from cellular devices on the different networks to see if you are experiencing issues. nnWe have completed hundred of test calls and here are our results (all tests done during regular business hours)n- Calls coming from mobile devices on the Bell Network: ~90% of incoming calls failed.n- Calls coming from mobile devices on the Rogers network: ~20% of incoming calls failedn- Calls coming from mobile devices on the Telus network: So far 0% of incoming calls failed.n- As far as we can tell there are no current issues when incoming calls are made from a landline or another VOIP device. As well there are minimal issues when calls are made to non-VOIP numbers.nnI wanted to share this with other businesses that rely on incoming phone calls so that they have all the data they need in these challenging times.nnWe would love to hear from someone who works at the major phone networks, especially at Bell, when they expect these congestion issues to be minimized.
