Blue Flag makes a fantastic rain garden plant, tolerating short periods of drought and flooding. Its preference is rich, loamy soil, however, with consistent moisture, it can grow in other soil types. While it's not as showy as the much larger German bearded iris, it still create a lovely late-spring focal point and is even more beneficial to our pollinators. The leaves have the typical sword shape adding texture to the garden even when not in bloom.
