FAQs

Do you offer triple pane windows?

Yes we do. All of our window and patio doors are available in double or triple pane options and you can choose between our two standard LoE offerings for either. Car 270 or Car 366.

What does Argon gas do in a window?

Argon gas is colourless, odourless, non-toxic, non corrosive and non-flammable. Argon occurs naturally in the atmosphere, making up about 1% of the air we breathe. It is about 30% less thermally conductive than air and is therefore used in sealed units to reduce heat loss or heat gain. Argon is most commonly combined with Low-E glass and replaces the air between the two panes of glass in sealed units. Used by itself, without being combined with high performance glass, argon will give roughly a 5% improvement in efficiency. Van Isle Windows uses argon gas in our sealed units made with Tempered or Safety glass where energy efficiency is required.

What happens if I use an after-market film product on my Van Isle Windows?

The use of after-market films and coatings will void any remaining warranty. Although these films are normally very effective in reducing fading, heat gain, and glare, and providing additional security (in fact they are usually very similar to the Low-E coatings or laminated glass which we sell), the reason that it voids the warranty is due to the way that these films are applied. The films are usually applied to the inside of the windows (on the #4 surface), and this can cause heat and UV to reflect back into the sealed unit causing premature failure and an increased risk of thermal stress breakage. In addition, if the glass is scored during the installation process this can create an increased risk of glass breakage.

What should I do if I have an alarm system on my windows and/or doors?

Due to liability issues we cannot be responsible for alarm systems. We ask that you notify your security company, in advance, or the installation date. Pending your installation method, age of the alarms, etc., you may need to schedule them to be rewired.

What will I have to do after my installation is completed?

Whether you are building a new home or renovating an old one there are several things that have to happen to get to the finished product you call home. This is the same with the window installations we provide. We aim to leave the home clean when we are done. We are not professional window cleaners but we will clean the windows after completing the install and we will clean up any mess we have made. With some installations we will use finishing trims or mouldings that will need to be touched up or painted after we are done and gone. In other instances, the customer may choose a finish that will not cover old paint lines and this will require the homeowner to follow up with painting after we are gone.

Listed for homeowners in and around Victoria, BC, these 24 companies fit and repair windows. Frame materials, glazing options and any credentials shown are taken from company websites; the customer lines are quoted from public reviews.

Area overview: Victoria, BC

10 of the 24 companies we list are based in Victoria; the other 14 serve Victoria from towns including Duncan (46 km), Saanichton (16 km) and Surrey (93 km). The companies on this page are rated from 4.0 to 5.0 across 1,051 reviews; 4 have 50 or more reviews and 19 are rated 4.5 or higher. Do the listed window companies all have premises in Victoria?

10 of the 24 give an address in Victoria itself; the rest serve it from within 95 km. A showroom often covers a whole region, so distance matters less than who does the installing. Ask whether the fitters are employees, and how a callback in the middle of winter is handled.
