Argon gas is colourless, odourless, non-toxic, non corrosive and non-flammable. Argon occurs naturally in the atmosphere, making up about 1% of the air we breathe. It is about 30% less thermally conductive than air and is therefore used in sealed units to reduce heat loss or heat gain. Argon is most commonly combined with Low-E glass and replaces the air between the two panes of glass in sealed units. Used by itself, without being combined with high performance glass, argon will give roughly a 5% improvement in efficiency. Van Isle Windows uses argon gas in our sealed units made with Tempered or Safety glass where energy efficiency is required.

The use of after-market films and coatings will void any remaining warranty. Although these films are normally very effective in reducing fading, heat gain, and glare, and providing additional security (in fact they are usually very similar to the Low-E coatings or laminated glass which we sell), the reason that it voids the warranty is due to the way that these films are applied. The films are usually applied to the inside of the windows (on the #4 surface), and this can cause heat and UV to reflect back into the sealed unit causing premature failure and an increased risk of thermal stress breakage. In addition, if the glass is scored during the installation process this can create an increased risk of glass breakage.

Due to liability issues we cannot be responsible for alarm systems. We ask that you notify your security company, in advance, or the installation date. Pending your installation method, age of the alarms, etc., you may need to schedule them to be rewired.

Whether you are building a new home or renovating an old one there are several things that have to happen to get to the finished product you call home. This is the same with the window installations we provide. We aim to leave the home clean when we are done. We are not professional window cleaners but we will clean the windows after completing the install and we will clean up any mess we have made. With some installations we will use finishing trims or mouldings that will need to be touched up or painted after we are done and gone. In other instances, the customer may choose a finish that will not cover old paint lines and this will require the homeowner to follow up with painting after we are gone.
