Best Arborists & Tree Services in Edmonton, AB

It's that time of year again! ⏱️ The end of daylight savings time is upon us, which means we get an extra hour of sleep this Sunday. But that's not the only thing that changes, did you know that trees also respond to the changing of the seasons? As the days get shorter and the nights get longer, trees begin to prepare for winter by slowing down their growth and entering a state of dormancy. This is why you may have noticed your trees looking a little bit less lush in recent weeks. But don't worry, this is perfectly normal! Once the days start getting longer again, your trees will start to wake up and resume their growth. In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to help them adjust to the change in season: - Make sure they're getting enough water. Trees need more water in the fall to help them prepare for winter, so make sure to give them a deep watering at least once a week. - Protect them from frost damage. If you live in an area where frost is common in the winter, make sure to wrap your trees in burlap or frost cloth to protect them from the cold. - Prune dead or damaged branches. Dead branches can be a vector for disease, so it's important to remove them as soon as possible. As we say goodbye to daylight savings time, don't forget about your trees! A little bit of TLC now will go a long way toward keeping them healthy and happy all winter long.
