“Very happy with the cabinets we got. James was very good to deal with.”
FAQs
How do I make my kitchen or bathroom space more efficient?
We developed many techniques for making the most of your space. For example, a spice rack that is concealed with a fluted frontal for tight spaces or a kidney style chrome Lazy Susan wheel for access to those hard to reach places.
Why are cabinets from national retailers so cheap?
Cabinets sold at national retail stores are made in bulk to fit into many houses and are often made with lower quality materials. These cabinets are not made to fit your particular needs and often will not meet your particular remodelling goals, such as dealing with an unusual space. Our design creativity and focus on individual needs allows Royal Wood Design to integrate unique ways to meet our clients' goals better than cheaper mass-produced products and therefore our customers can achieve a more efficient and beautiful kitchen or bath.
I'm working on a budget, but I want to re-do my kitchen or bathroom, what can you do?
Our first goal at Royal Wood Design is to allow each individual to still get their dream kitchen and meet your budget. One of the first things we do in our consultations is to discuss what your budget is and how to maximize your value.
Who's the best person for the job?
There are a lot of professionals out there - interior designers, architects, remodelling contractors - but your best bet is to pick a designer or firm that specializes in the kitchen and bath area. You'll probably meet first at their office or showroom to share your ideas and basic needs. Then upon finalizing a footprint, the designer will come to your home to take careful measurements of the space, make note of plumbing and structural elements, and get a feel for your home's style. They will ask a lot of questions about your kitchen or bathroom, lifestyle and family. They'll be listening carefully so that the finished room you work to create reflects your personal taste and how you use the space. You'll choose products, colors and materials together, working within your budget. The relationship can go only as far as creating your design, or you may have the design professional act as a consultant, or he may manage the entire project for you - including hiring sub-contractors and scheduling the work and supervising the installation.
What are the most popular types of cabinets?
While popular cabinet styles and trends vary from year to year, traditional raised-panel oak styling is always a favourite due to affordability and durability. A current trend is a "stand-alone" furniture look that allows for highly customized design features using cabinetry from major manufacturers. Besides oak, certain wood species tend to be favoured by today's consumers. Maple is frequently used in remodelling because of its clean look and its ability to blend in with most existing finishes. Cherry has become increasingly popular as manufacturers have developed a variety of finishes allowing it to work in more applications.
