My driveway is severely cracked and is it really worth fixing this or am I better off to replace the whole thing?

This can only be answered by having the areas assessed by one of our team members for the best solution. Based on experience, most driveways are repairable and can also be maintained year after year for keeping the water from entering into the concrete.

What do you mean by 'keeping the water from entering into the concrete'?

Water is the enemy when it comes to concrete. This means that as water penetrates through fine cracks and expansion joints during the early stages, it freezes during the winter months and thus causes the cracks to expand year after year. Besides the freezing, throughout the rest of the time the water turns into sludge under the concrete causing more movement therefore also causing some areas to sink.

So what you are suggesting is basically waterproofing all my concrete?

Absolutely. As slab jacking can be very useful, it is something that requires one to do their due diligence for the best yet sustainable outcomes. The best suggestion we or anyone else who has your interest in mind would tell you to firstly repair all the cracked areas. Secondly to seal the surface with a penetrating sealer and thirdly to have proper water drains installed on or off your concrete. We can do all this for you for a fraction of the cost in comparison to replacing your concrete.

Are they all basically the same?

There are definitely many different brands of sealers out there and most of them are designed for serving a similar purpose. However over the years we have discovered that most thicker density products with a promise for a shiny driveway are not very effective. This is because the it sits on your concrete versus going into the concrete. The product that we use and recommend is designed to penetrate about 1/8 of an inch into the concrete. This can either be done with a medium gloss or a low gloss option. And yes we can use an anti slip agent to prevent any slips or falls.
