Listed for homeowners in and around North York, ON, these 24 contractors take on kitchens, from replacing doors on sound boxes to gutting the room and moving the sink. Anything a card claims about design help, brands or scheduling is drawn from that company's own website, not from a survey.

Do any of these firms design without charging?

Free design or a free consultation is advertised by 11 of the 24 listings for North York. Free design is normally tied to buying the cabinets from that firm, and the drawings stay theirs. A paid design fee usually buys plans you can take to another bidder, which is what makes prices comparable.

FAQs

What are custom cabinets and stock cabinets, and which is right for me?

Stock cabinets have predefined measurements and are prefabricated. Custom cabinets are more flexible and can be fabricated to meet any dimension that a kitchen design requires. A custom kitchen company can modify cabinet dimensions to fit the exact space in your kitchen. The ability to customize also gives you endless options for materials, finishes, colors, and cabinet styles.

How much should I expect to pay for kitchen cabinetry?

The cost of kitchen cabinetry can vary and is based on the type of doors, drawers, and materials used. More drawers mean higher costs as they are pricier than cabinets with just doors. Especially if they are made of high-quality materials like wood with dovetail joints and full extension soft close. Additional features like pullout mechanisms and recycling centers can also increase the cost. To see how we can help reduce costs, speak with one of our designers today.

What factors should I consider when choosing kitchen cabinets?

When choosing kitchen cabinets, consider style, color, material, construction quality, and cost. The cabinet style should complement the overall design aesthetic of your home. The color should either match or complement the color scheme of your kitchen. Consider cabinets built with high-quality materials and strong construction to ensure cabinet durability and longevity. Finally, the overall cost should be within your budget while still meeting your desired style and quality requirements. Consult with one of our designers who can help you make the best decisions for your kitchen cabinets.

How long does a typical kitchen renovation take, from start to finish?

The timeline for a kitchen renovation can vary greatly depending on the complexity of the project and the scope of work. Once ordered, kitchen cabinets take between 6-8 weeks to arrive. The start date of the demolition is usually coordinated with the arrival dates of the cabinets. Generally, a complete kitchen renovation takes between 4-8 weeks from the day the demolition starts.

What tips can you offer to help me stay within my budget during my kitchen renovation?

Set a budget and stick to it. Prioritize your expenses and focus on the most important items. Keep the existing layout to avoid additional plumbing and electrical costs. Work with a professional designer to create a plan that meets your budget and design goals. Communicate your budget clearly to the designer or contractor. Finally, avoid making changes mid-project, as they can increase costs.
