What is Moisture and Where Does it Come From? Moisture is water that has changed into a gas state called Vapor and travels in the air. You might be familiar with this when your cooking or taking a hot shower and you see all the "steam". That is moisture (water in the air). When this water vapor touches a cold surface, it converts back into a liquid (actual water) and you can see droplets or water streaks on walls, ceilings, mirrors, etc... All this water build up on your surfaces, if not managed, can eventually cause damage and potentially mold. TIPS: - Bathrooms are a obvious place for high moisture build-up. Always have the exhaust fan run during showers and at least 30 minutes after showers. Even the smallest gap can allow enough water to enter walls and floors which over time can cause damage - including mold. - Repair leaking faucets and pipes immediately. Even a small leak can add lots of water build up over time. - Clean up any wet spills quickly, especially on hardwood floors as water can seep inside and get trapped.
