How can I tell if my roof needs repairing, recoating or replacing?

This will depend on the type and age of the roof and the quality of installation, previous repairs and if regular maintenance took place. Aged roofs which simply look weathered or stained can appear to require to re-roofing. Our advice to you: do not get spooked by the results of a self-assessment or mislead by a contractor who is not qualified to assess the situation. Our promise to you: we provide you with a visual inspection report and unbiased recommendation of work needed so your roof can protect you, your family or your business from the elements and can perform as intended.

What is the most durable type of roofing material?

Depending on the type and style of roof, whether it is a residential home for which the appearance of the finished roofing product is most important, or it is a large warehouse with commercial flat roof assembly, the selection of products can be overwhelming but are also heavily limited by the use and slope of the structure and roof design. We can provide the appropriate answer after an initial consultation or inspection.

Do I need a warranty and how long can I expect my roof to last?

At first, a roof should outlast at a minimum any given manufacturers' warranty. Unfortunately, this is not always the case due to either improper workmanship, wrong choice of materials, and sometimes but rarely a material defect. Typical manufacturers' commercial guarantees range from 5 to 20 years and warranties for residential products can be of up to 50 years, but will be voided by improper design or faulty workmanship. If I believe my roof has not been installed properly, what are my options?

A visual roof inspection would be required to establish whether the roofing system is fit for purpose and to ascertain the standard of workmanship and whether the installation of the roof meets the standards of current Codes of Practice. A written report of the findings would be required to assist in bringing about a satisfactory resolution of this matter.

Do I always need a written report or can a verbal report be enough?

Sometimes, where there is a minor issue, a verbal report may suffice. However, for clarity and in order to have a permanent record of the findings of a visual roof inspection, a written report is recommended.
