Make sure they are clear of snow and ice so air can flow freely. WHY? A snow-covered furnace vent pipe prevents your furnace from venting properly. This can cause carbon monoxide to build up in your home. Carbon monoxide is a poisonous, colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas that is incredibly toxic. Good rule of thumb. If there’s enough snow to shovel (or strong enough winds) check your vents too!
