Make Sure Your Air Conditioner Is Working Its Best for the Summer: As summer heats up, a well-functioning air conditioner is essential. Here are tips to ensure your AC is in top shape: 1. Clean/Replace Filters: Check filters monthly and replace every 3 months to maintain airflow and efficiency. 2. Check the Thermostat: Ensure it’s working correctly and consider upgrading to a programmable model. 3. Clean Coils: Dust on evaporator and condenser coils reduces efficiency. Clean them annually with a soft brush or coil cleaner. 4. Clear the Outdoor Unit: Remove debris and ensure at least 2 feet of clearance around the condenser for proper airflow. 5. Check Refrigerant Levels: Low refrigerant affects cooling. Have a professional check and recharge if necessary. 6. Inspect Ducts: Seal any visible leaks in ductwork to prevent energy loss. 7. Test Before Peak Season: Run your AC before summer peaks to identify any issues. 8. Schedule Maintenance: Annual professional maintenance can catch small issues early and improve efficiency. 9. Consider Upgrading: If your AC is old, a new, energy-efficient model can save on utility bills. Look for high SEER ratings. 10. Use Fans/Curtains: Ceiling fans help circulate cool air, and closing curtains during the day keeps out heat, reducing AC load. By following these tips, you’ll keep your AC running efficiently all summer, ensuring a cool and comfortable home.
